Dear
Teachers, Educators, and Youth Organization Leaders,
UC Irvine is very pleased to extend this invitation
to middle school and high school students and educators to
participate in our forthcoming symposium with the Nobel Peace
Laureate, the XIV Dalai Lama.
A primary goal of this symposium is to facilitate
a dialogue on the role of ethics and youth leadership in shaping
the new millennium.
As our students move from school to the workforce,
the process of leadership training continues, completing a
circle that begins with the family and returns through the
community. With an eye toward further developing compassionate
leadership both inside and outside the classroom, the purpose
of this dialogue is to explicitly connect the values of ethical
leadership to the work of the classroom, to help students
more easily identify their own values, measure those beliefs
against personal responsibilities, and foster their own leadership
qualities.
This is indeed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
for our youth to meet one another and listen to a global spokesperson
for universal human rights and the power of every individual
to impact world affairs.
Middle school, high school, community college
and university students are invited to come together in the
Bren Events Center on Friday, April 16th, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
This is a free event and tickets are required. Limited bus
transportation will be provide by UC Irvine. (Please visit
the links on the right for more information.)
For complete details of the visit, please visit
our website at http://www.uci.edu/DalaiLama
. We hope you and your students will join us.
